The PE Department Website Information:
A warm welcome from the outstanding PE Department here at Kepier! Sport can be a vehicle for learning many of life’s great lessons, as well developing many skill sets which will stay with you throughout your life. What we ask from you, is something that sounds very simple but requires true commitment: ‘BE the Best ME I can BE’. Giving your best every lesson, regardless of ability or activity, is what we ask. We will provide you with engaging lessons and activities that will develop you as an individual as a whole, not just an athlete; but you have to provide us with the drive and focus to want to continuously improve and learn.
There is so much on offer here at Kepier in PE, we have state of the art facilities, fantastic and experienced teachers, a vision to give everyone a positive experience of sport and physical activity, and a positive balance between learning and competition. We as a Department are always ranked amongst the most favourite lessons here at Kepier, I am sure we can deliver the same for you, enjoy!

Your time studying sport here at Kepier will cover a variety of different activities, that include both team and individual activities, which we will focus on improving technical and tactical knowledge. Activities such as Football, Basketball, Tennis, Athletics, Trampoline, Table Tennis, to name a few are examples of what you will access. However, while studying these, there is a real focus on developing as an individual and we look to develop four ‘strands’ of an individual, Physical ME, Healthy ME, Thinking ME and Social ME (Future ME in KS4). Throughout your study here there are several large scale events in PE in which you can be involved, including National School Sport Week Celebrations, Sports Day, Dance Shows and several other offsite trips and visits. In addition, at KS4 there is an option to choose a sporting qualification should you wish to pursue a career in the sporting field, of which there are many.
An interesting fact about the Department is that we currently hold a Gold Kitemark from both the Youth Sport Trust and the Great Active Sunderland School Charter, showing our commitment to sport and dedication to deliver high quality PE.
Our homework expectations in CORE PE is that you get out there and be active. We have a wide variety of extra curricular clubs on offer to support this, in addition to fantastic links with local teams and clubs. We know that there is a sport for everyone, you just have to find yours!
